Update on the progress of roof reconstruction works in the old school. Award of the scientific team "BOULOUKI"
A group of 34 members of "Panos & Cressida help to children", warm supporters and sponsors of the restoration project of the old school in Frasta for the housing of the School of Traditional Building, visited the school and watched the reconstruction works of the roof and the creation of an open loft for attending seminars, funded by us.
We watched again the good cooperation and work of all: Architects, engineers, craftsmen, artists and researchers from Greece and abroad, along with young people of the region, students, boys and girls, local craftsmen, scientific staff and the local community collaborate and work with gusto, in seminars and workshops, for the study and, the on-site learning and application, The use of local traditional materials and building techniques, adapted to the needs of today.In this phase the young apprentices, boys & girls, worked on wood, cleaning, maintenance (with turpentine and katrami) and participated in the new construction of the roof and the new open loft. This new construction, funded by P&C4Life, will help a much larger number of participants attend the seminars and workshops.
On 21/9 in the evening, in a moving evening, the scientific team "Boulouki" was awarded by Europa Nostra, for the exemplary work of the team in the category "Education, Training & Skills". "Boulouki" is an innovative non-profit organization that combines practical training in traditional building arts with real projects, aiming to integrate traditional knowledge into modern construction.
